Pill Mill is a brand that encourages people to prioritize their mental health while offering coping strategies, understanding, and encouragement to take action. I decided to focus on mental health for my thesis because the challenge of taking a heavy topic and creating an uplifting and informative brand is something I enjoy doing most.
Focussing on individuals who struggle with mental health, I set out to create an assortment of candles, pill bottle match holders, and informational cards that customers would receive based on their disorder. The pill bottles exhibit the disorder name along with a description, while the candle reflects a better state of mind in that disorder. The informational cards provide further information regarding misconceptions and coping strategies for that disorder as well. Customers would receive all items arranged in a wooden box that could then be kept after for personal use or returned to the store.
In addition to helping people combat their disorders, I also wanted the brand to be environmentally friendly while encouraging people to recycle their pill bottles. Using pill bottles as vessels for matches, customers can either come back and get them filled with more matches or just turn in their bottles. Doing this would limit the waste created by the brand while also enforcing the routine of getting your medication refilled.
While designing I found my biggest challenge was creating various assets across a brand while keeping everything consistent. I overcame this by sticking to my chosen color pallet as well as translating elements derived from the logo created from the beginning.
